The American Monument, Isle of Islay

The Daily Post theme this week is ‘Monument’. For this theme I have chosen an image of The American Monument in the Mull of Oa, Isle of Islay, Argyll, Scotland which was built to remember the loss of American Troopships Tuscania which was torpedoed by a German submarine in February 1918 and the Ortranto, which sank in October 1918 with more than 400 lives lost between the two disasters.

Please take a visit and like Facebook Page for regular posts or take a visit to a recent post to see what may be the remains of the Ortranto.
