A View of Campbeltown, Kintyre, Argyll

Campbeltown, Kintyre, Argyll

Sonel’s challenge this week has had me in a bit of a conundrum as there are two well known songs from my local area, do I go for ‘Mull of Kintyre’ by Sir Paul McCartney & the Wings with the Campbeltown Pipe Band or do I go for ‘Campbeltown Loch’ by Andy Stewart…well I opted for the later and here is my image to go with it 🙂 showing Campbeltown, her Loch in all her beauty looking across the Kintyre peninsula at sunset.

This image is a 3 bracket HDR Image tonemapped in Photomatix Pro and Edited in Photoshop CS5 & Lightroom 4. The Un-Edited file shows the +2 Exposure from the 3 exposures.

And may I add what a coincidence this weeks topic is, I have just been asked if I can provide one of my images for a music CD booklet for a song that references Davaar Island which is an Island at the mouth of Campbeltown Loch made famous by a cave painting of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ by a local artist.

Feel free to visit my Facebook Page for updates and any offers that I may be having.

  1. Reblogged this on Ian Moore-Morrans, Scottish Canadian Author and commented:
Gorgeous photo of Ian’s hometown. It brings to mind an excerpt from Ian’s memoir: “From Poverty to Poverty: A Scotsman Encounters Canada.” We plan to reblog this and add an excerpt from Ian’s memoir that describes Campbeltown Loch, Andy Stewart’s song “Campbeltown Loch, I Wish Ye Were Whisky” and an encounter Ian had with Andy Stewart after a concert in Canada.

    1. Thanks Fire Bonnet, when I first started HDR I used to go OTT with the editing but hopefully starting to find the right balance now 🙂
