Sonel’s Corner Photo-Editing Challenge – Trees and or Tree Trunks

This weeks theme for Sonel’s Photo Editing Challenge was Tree’s and or Tree Trunks. I edited this image in Photoshop CS5 applying lots of contrast and sharpening (perhaps to much for my liking on this to be honest) and applied a green filter to the B&W to darken the dark tones. The image is a merged 3 bracket shot with the en-edited normal exposure displayed for comparison, where you can see the HDR technique come to light (pardon the pun) by displaying the details in the uplifted trunk.roots. The 3 brackets were merged in Photomatix Pro. This image was captured at Ballygrant Loch, Isle of Islay.

  2. I worry about some of my images as well… being over processed. It just is a very different feel than the original (which is really lovely btw) In the edit you see an amazing amount of detail and the texture is really fabulous.

    1. Thanks FireBonnet I think viewing them on screen doesn’t help either but I do edit a lot of my Images fairly intensively, I used the HDR method on this one to help capture the detail on the shadows, especially for under the roots. I’ll get a look at your images soon when I get back to my pc.
